So what parts make up a braking system?

The braking system in a car is made up of various components that work together to ensure safe and effective stopping power. Over time, wear and tear can cause these components to fail or require repairs. Below are some of the components that may need attention:

  • Brake pads: These are the parts of the braking system that press against the rotor to stop the car. Over time, they wear down and will need to be replaced.
  • Rotors: Rotors are the round, disc-shaped components that the brake pads press against to slow down the vehicle. Like brake pads, they can become worn, warped or damaged and will need to be resurfaced or replaced.
  • Calipers: Calipers hold the brake pads in place and clamp them onto the rotor when you press on the brake pedal. If the calipers become stuck or fail, the pads won't make proper contact with the rotor and the braking system won't work as it should.
  • Brake lines: The brake lines carry brake fluid from the master cylinder to the calipers. If the lines become damaged or corroded, the fluid can leak out, reducing the system's effectiveness.
  • Master cylinder: The master cylinder converts the force applied to the brake pedal into hydraulic pressure that activates the calipers. If it becomes damaged or worn, it may not work properly, affecting your ability to stop the car.
  • Brake fluid: Brake fluid is necessary to transfer pressure from the master cylinder to the calipers. If the fluid becomes contaminated or low, it can impact braking performance and increase the risk of accidents.

Keeping these components in good working condition is essential to ensure the safety of yourself and other drivers on the road. Regular inspections and maintenance can help you identify issues early and keep your brakes functioning properly.

We assess the following and replace where necessary:

  • Replacement Of Brake Pads
  • Flush Brake Fluid And Replace
  • Brake Disc/Rotor And Drum Machining or Resurfacing
  • Brake Disc And Drum Replaced Replace
  • Brake Calipers Replacement
  • Brake Hoses And Lines Replacing
  • Complete Brakes System Replaced

Don't forget to also have your suspension, steering. wheel alignment and balance inspected as they all impact on your braking system.
